The flat earth theory meme is one that has captured my interest and has become one of my favorite memes in recent memory. The principle of this meme comes by means of absurdity where people continue to believe that the earth is a flat plane as opposed to a sphere. There was a group that started in 2004 whose goal was to spread the idea that the earth was in fact flat. This lead to many people taking their relatively absurd ideas and sensationalizing them in the form of memes. The most popular form of this meme revolves around the idea that many flat earth conspirators use as a point of argument, which is that when you are in a plane, why does the horizon appear to be flat in stead of curved? These memes have gone viral relatively recent as many celebrities have joined in debate, the most popular being Kyrie Irving. His main reasoning for why he believes the earth is flat is that the government doesn’t tell us everything and it would be easy for them to feed us this information to funnel money into various “fake” organizations like NASA.
